Pantry Basics

Here are some pantry basics I keep in my kitchen at all times, in case I’m in the mood for some midnight baking or snack making.

Baking Pantry:

  • All Purpose Flour (Keep in airtight container, with a little 1 cup scoop)
  • White Granulated Sugar (Keep in airtight container, or else it’ll clump)
  • Brown Granulated Sugar (Keep in airtight container, or else it’ll clump)
  • Powdered Sugar (Keep in airtight container, or else it’ll clump)
  • Baking Soda & Baking Powder
  • Cinnamon
  • Chocolate powder
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Yeast 2-3 small packets
  • Unsalted Butter / Vegan margarine*
  • Canola oil*
  • White vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar*
  • Eggs or Ener-G*
  • Chocolate chips
  • Chopped Nuts

*stared items are used in vegan baking

Cooking Pantry:

Here are some basics to Asian cooking you can pick up on your next trip to the Asian Mart .

  • Black Vinegar
  • Soy Sauce (regular soy sauce & dark soy sauce)
  • Vegetable oil (I usually use canola oil or grapeseed oil)
  • Sesame Seeds
  • 5-spice powder
  • Green Onions / Scallions
  • Garlic & Ginger
  • Onion & Potato
  • Salt / Pepper
  • Hot pepper flakes
  • Brown / White Rice
  • Chinese Cooking Wine
  • Oyster Sauce
  • Hoisin sauce
  • Curry paste
  • Cornstarch
